Photographer and Director
My first short film was a psychological thriller – shot over two days in North London. To do this I used a college camcorder and picked the setting of an English woods as it created an almost wonderland feel.
I used close up shots on the objects and point of view shots to help the viewer gain a direct insight into the main protagonists mind. The main character was specifically picked for her ability to represent the balance between good and evil.
I chose the location based on the availability of diegetic sound, and planned the production to take place at dusk so as to make the best use of the lighting to enhance the dark undertone of the short film.
During the post production process I used Imovie which allowed me to add a range of sound effects and filters. I used filters for the scenes in the woods to create a dreamlike atmosphere that quickly turns into a nightmare.
I am a budding photographer and enjoy translating this skill to the moving image. I’m comfortable behind the camera or in the role of director and I'm interested in a junior position that will enable me to grow in these areas.
